Tom Patterson

         Tom is a talkative geek, currently a sophmore majoring in Math. His hobbies are stage magic, juggling, theater tech work, and blogging (as "blogicist"). He also reads a lot of science fiction and fantasy. He is friendly and polite, but he doesn't get noticed much. He is shy when it comes to talking about himself, especially around girls. He tends to talk more about everything else in response.

         He is from Eugene, Oregon, where his parents both work at U of O. They would naturally have preferred that he go there -- but he really wanted to get out and live more on his own. His family isn't overtly dysfunctional but they can be unbearably intrusive, even if they mean well.

         He was interested in the experiment for two reasons. The first is that he has never particularly slept well for as long as he can remember. He regularly will wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep for hours if at all. More recently, his roommate now has a girlfriend who keeps sleeping over. This makes it even more uncomfortable.

Skills: Tom is a bright student majoring in math, though he is not very technically oriented. He is peculiarly light-fingered, though, especially given his lack of grace otherwise. He is at least passable at most typical stage magic tricks, plus various theater tech and costuming skills.

Description: Tom is 5'8'' and slightly overweight at 175 pounds. He has wavy dark brown hair that is a little too long. He wears glasses to correct for his myopia.
