Character List for Purple Pomegranate Campaign
This is meant to be a reference to keep track of characters the players
have encountered (esp. for GM!). Copies will be available at each game;
you definitely aren't expected to memorize this.
Organizations
- PAW (Patriotic Army of the Web):
Gang of exiled Garu, claiming
to be political movement to return order to the Web and true patriotism
to the Empire. Ideological bias against new races, esp. Gorillas and
Darby. Members: General Krawr (founder and leader), Crioo, Kai, Bruf and
Warwar, many more.
- UGF (United Gorilla Front):
Vigilantee organization of gorillas
doing business in the Web, mainly unified in opposition to PAW. Members:
Dick Trickster, Karl Trickster, Bart Howler, many more.
- CAPSIZE (Citizens Advisory Panel, Security In Zoned Environs):
Group deputized by Dean Tolerance to investigate spill-over violence
from the Web, and suggest methods to regulate
the Web. Members: Director Zzazza, Slick, Mei-ling, Mordecai (security
consultant).

Slick (short for Shikh'thsh) : PC(John).
An archaeomage that works for the Ministry of Public Works.
Wu Li's second in his courtship of Chan Minh.
Assisted Kara and Perseverance in the capture of Graf.
Appointed to CAPSIZE by Dean Tolerance.

Pipo : freelance reporter. Usually works for Chesterfield Hazleton's paper,
"Out of the Ashes". Last article: an in-depth background piece on Graf's capture.

Gaboo: one of a famous party of Phoenix faction adventurers, whose
explorations of the Science Tower led to death or madness. Gaboo is an Animator,
one of the best in the Empire at anthropomorphizing. He has become a recluse in
his Lakeview Tower mansion, maintaining contact only with delivery services
and that only through the intermediary of anthropomorphic objects. Kara found a
clock in Wu Li's shop that claimed to be Gaboo's property.
Later, Gaboo hired Mordecai to locate the clock and
other property stolen by PAW during a raid of his home.

Trisksash: Assassin. Attempted to sabotage
Lord Ben's acrobatic show. Sabotage was prevented from occuring by Director Zza Zza.
Exiled and conscripted for duty in mining camps.
Resisted normal and magical interogation.

Sharth: A non-descript Cham whose home opens on the sewer that Graf's victims were
found in.

Dr. Galin: Ship's surgeon on the Philisophe, Captain Arbray's command.
A noted naturalist who also uses
Animation in his medical work. He is outspoken, iconoclastic, and cold-blooded.

Tsaltos: Associate of the Trickster's invited to dinner at meeting of CAPSIZE
with Tricksters. Had a pet raven perched on his shoulder.

Ickinoz: Private investigator tailing Mei-ling. Caught by Mordecai and Zzazza.
Claimed to be working for Chimesh, another Cham PI.

Darby

Shelby, a domestic in the Feng household. He was used as a
messenger by Mao Rhee Sung in the attempted kidnapping of Wu Li.
But he was innocent of the plot, and testified against
Mao Rhee Sung and Ngoc Bui.
Gabby: a house-cleaner for the neighborhood that Warlord
Gabrar's Mansion is in. Gave Slick a report on goings-on there.

Mai Ling Feng : PC (Liz) .
A socialite and Animator whose vocation is staging controversial Animated puppet shows,
such as ``The Story of Noah". Her avocation seems to be meddling in other people's
business. (Which is great for the plot!)
She is Slick's advisor on Dragon courtship, assisted Perseverance and Kara with
Graf's capture, and was appointed to CAPSIZE by Dean Tolerance.

Wu Li: owner of an antique/toy store and frequent Pomegranate customer.
Madly in love with Chan Minh, the Phoenix Feather heiress.
Slick is his second in his courtship. Mao Rhee Sung and Ngoc Bui attempted
to kidnap him to keep him away from Chan Minh.

Chan Minh: The Phoenix Feather heiress. Being courted by Wu Li

Minh Kao:
Chan Minh's mother. Very traditional and reserved. She loves ceremony,
but prefers her daughter to be in the spotlight.

Ching Wen Feng: Mai Ling's snobby and assertive half-sister.

Admiral Ho Feng: Mai Ling's and Ching Wen's father. Has made himself
incredibly rich as Procurer (Supply Officer) to the Navy.
Exceptional in that he started
as a petty officer, and actually sailed and fought battles.
He was Commodore Barafa's superior, and is currently one of three officers
at Barafa's court-martial.

Ngoc Bui: Scion of one of the oldest, richest, and best connected Dragon
families. Recently exiled from the city for attempting to kidnap and imprison
Wu Li, to further his own courtship of Chan Minh.

Mao Rhee Sung: A cousin of Ho Feng's and a co-conspiritor with Ngoc Bui. Also exiled.

Feng Shui: Dragon-harpist extrodinaire. Assisted with plot against Lord Ben's
acrobatic show, but it was not proved that she was a witting accomplice.
In any case, the matter revealed her extreme Outward Faction and anti-Gorilla
sympathies. Sentenced to community service.

Chung Fui: A late member of the adventuring party that tried to
explore the Science Tower. A noted Diviner.

Lam Duc: A Diviner working for Lakeview Religious Law Enforcement under Dean
Tolerance.

Yat Fai Leung: A former suitor of Chan Minh's. Chan tried to set him up with
Mei-ling. An unaccomplished member of an elite family, he is eager to make his
mark. He has asked Mei-ling to help lobby for his plan to launch an
expedition to re-discover the trade route to the Dragon Empire. This plan was
inspired by a conversation about the dangers of Dragon
inbreeding he had with Dr. Galin.

Kai (?): A Conjurer working with General Krawr. Perserverance came
into brief mental contact with him, and Slick overheard Krawr use his
name.
- Lin Fat: a dealer in non-magical crystal in the Tower of
Beauty

Xin Nguyen: A Dragon girl attending Penelope Vancouver's experimental
multi-cultural school. Rescued by Kavendish after swimming class
attacked by giant eels.

Garu

Kara: PC (Josh): Auditor for Dean Tolerance. Her job is to investigate
crimes to determine whether they fall under jurisdiction of spiritual law.
Incredibly strong and expert wrestler. Single female Garu. Enforces the
spirit of the law, not the letter.
Took charge in foiling Wu Li's would-be kidnappers,
and initial parts of Graf murder investigation.

Mordecai: PC (Craig); Private investigator. Hired by Gaboo to recover stolen
anthropomorphs, and later to investigate "real" reason behind the raid.
Also working as investigator for CAPSIZE.

Graf: A member of the adventuring party that tried to explore the
Science Tower. Now a psychotic murderer with delusions concerning
his wife, Rouga, who is presumed dead. World-class Shift-Fighter
known for combining shifts with attacks and lightening reflexes.
Captured by a Lakeview Religious Law Enforcement posse, led by Perseverance,
and including Mei-ling , Slick, some Auditors from the Dean's office,
and a number of Arbray's sailors. Currently in a mental asylum on the Left
Bank, with Perseverance assigned as his chief Counselor.

Rouga: Graf's presumably dead wife, and member of the adventuring party.
She was an expert Transmogrifier.

Ruti and Crug: a courting couple killed by Graf in a side-tunnel leading
to the sewers.

Rufus: Lakeview civil police officer.
Investigated vandalism at Wu Li's store.

General Krawr: A top-rank army officer exiled from the city
for brawling with Claude, the Bama troupe's star acrobat.
Escaped from military custody, and fled to the Web, where
he founded a paramilitary gang of Garu exiles called the Patriotic
Army of the Web (PAW). PAW operates as a cross between an army and
a crime gang. Failed to sabotage the Bama Acrobatic troupe's performance
at the Purple Pomegranate and to recapture Graf.
- Bruf and Warwar: Two PAW members mentioned by
name in a conversation Slick was eavesdropping on, at the end of the secret
tunnel to the Web from Barafa's property.

Captain Arbray: Naval hero and explorer, commander of warship Philisophe.
Aided in capture of Krawr.

Gria: Arbray's wife, who stays in City while Arbray is away. Sweet and
lively, but a little shy. Childhood friend of Rouga, Crioo, and Barafa.

Commodore Barafa: A naval officer under Admiral Ho Feng. He is a
strong believer in personal connections and Garu superiority at
leadership. Purchased Warlord Gabrar's Palace for Krawr; claims
just as lovers' rendezvous.

Craga and Trox: mated couple, sailors on the Philisophe.
Commodore Barafa
objected to their being subservient to Al Midmast.

Crioo: Krawr's wife. A noted Diviner, reputedly the brains of the
pair. Childhood friend of Rouga, Gria, and Barafa.

Mordecai: (PC, Craig). Private detective hired by Gaboo to recover
stolen anthorpomorphs. Now employed by CAPSIZE as security consultant.

Gruth and Braw: found in Web
by Zza, Mordecai, and Perserverance being beaten
by UGF vigilantees.

Goran: a cub saved by Zza, Mordecai, and Mei-ling after being
attacked by giant eels while swimming.

Croga and Aroof: Attendents at the Garu summer camp Goran was attending.

The Bachelor: a fringe figure in Phoenix Faction politics, who
runs a network of mostly disreputable Garu agents. The Purple
Pomegranate is his headquarters.

Gorillas

Lord Ben: The governor of Bama, the gorilla homeland. He actually has almost
complete autonomy from the Empire. He must deliver a tribute of produce and
sugar to the Crystal Palace once a year.

Claude Swinger:
The star of Lord Ben's famous acrobatics troupe. Claude was temporarily
exiled from the city for brawling with General Krawr, which only affects him when
the troupe accompanies Lord Ben to the city to deliver the tribute.
Krawr sent an assassin to sabotage his most recent performance.

The Lakeview Rogues: a pack of adolescent males, with a headquarters in the
Lakeview Bazaar. Four members were exiled for attempted kidnapping of Wu Li.
- Al, Ben, Dave, Hugh, Sue and Trish Midmast: sailors on the
Philisophe. Al is Midmast foreman.
- George Boardrider: worker in Dean Tolerance's office, assigned
to assist Perseverance in Graf capture.

Karl Trickster: self-proclaimed "leader" of the group of UGF vigilantees
beating up Gruth and Braw. Arranged meeting between Tricksters and
CAPSIZE.
- Dick Trickster: leader of the Trickster pack, which has
extensive holdings in the Web. One of the organizers of the
United Gorilla Front (UGF), gorilla vigilantees counter-acting
PAW.

Dean Tolerance: head of the Lake Park/Lakeview church. He has
reputation for relative youth and vigor, as well as extremely liberal,
Phoenix-faction oriented politics.

Forbearance: counselor in Dean Tolerance's office, who has been
assigned to council temporary exiles to the Web. Has begun to
meet with his parolees in the Purple Pomegranate.

Perseverance: (PC, Ted) Counselor in Dean Tolerance's office.
