Notes on GURPS
These are my notes and articles on the
GURPS role-playing
game by Steve Jackson, published by Steve Jackson Games.
The review and articles all apply to the prior 3rd edition of the
rules, and may not be relevant for the current 4th edition
(released in 2004). While I am ambivalent about the core mechanics,
GURPS has among the best line of supplements. It has well-researched
sourcebooks covering a huge range of genres and topics.
-
GURPS 3rd Edition Review
- This is my complete review for the GURPS Basic Set,
Third Edition. As of 2004, there is now a Fourth Edition
out, but I do not have a review of it. So anything in the
review may be changed in the current edition.
-
Optional Aptitudes System
- An old rules add-on for allowing characters to have broader
fields of expertise, for third edition. i.e. This would
handle traits like "good with animals" or "scientifically-talented"
without being good in all IQ-skills.
-
Optional Martial Arts Design System
- An old rules add-on which codifies more of the special-case rules
that were in GURPS Martial Arts (for third edition
GURPS).
-
Feinting Probabilities
- A look at how feinting in third edition GURPS advanced combat
really works.
-
Combat Optimization in GURPS 3rd Ed
- Some archives of analysis of combat strategies and builds
within GURPS 3rd edition, from rec.games.frp.gurps.
