The 10 Minute RPG by Scott J. Compton

- A very simple generic fantasy RPG. Resolution is by rolling a
number of d10s and summing the total with stat to compare to a
target number. Higher task difficulty increases the number of
d10s rolled but increases the target number even more. (The easiest
is 1d10 + stat vs. 20; the hardest is 5d10 + stat vs. 100.)
Character creation is by choosing a number of selections from
race and profession, included in the Excel file. There is no
setting per se, but there are 24 races described - including
many monstrous ones.

- A scifi horror RPG about humans in an alternate 1950s - who discover
and resist Section 44, a robotic conspiracy that threatens to replace
all of humanity. Play proceeds in 4 rounds where in a round each
player frames one scene. Characters may be replaced by robots, in
which case they continue to play and work to replace the others.
Character creation is limited point-based, with players assigning
6 points among three qualities (Resolve, Contact, and Material),
3 points among Bonds (other people), and 4 points among
player-defined Anxieties. Resolution is scene-based, with
player and GM rolling a number of d6s for stat + modifiers, and
taking the highest result, +1 for every tie for highest.

Active Exploits Diceless Roleplaying

- A universal diceless system. Action resolution is based on
spending Luck, Discipline, and Revelation points. Skill lower
difficulty, while attributes add to the total. Character
creation is limited point-based. There are four free
setting books, 20-30 pages each: a modern-day monster-hunter
setting ("The Shaded Veil"), a dystopian sci-fi setting
("Overworld"), a modern conspiracy/horror setting
("Harlequinade"), and a medieval Europe setting ("The Kingdom of

It uses four attributes (Agility, Brawn, Cognition, Determination)
each rated from "A" to "D" representing +3 to +0 die modifier.
There are two levels of skills, basic and advanced, with their
own effects. Resolution is by rolling 2d6, where a single six
is a basic success, and two sixes are a critical success. The
player may apply modifiers to each die, but no more than a one
point difference between die mods. It includes magic as weapon
techniques, but no monsters.

Awesome! The Storytelling Game

a single stat ("Awesome!") that starts at 20. A player takes a turn
narrating, and the other players vote thumbs up or down. If the

BATTLES ONE

the death, dice game" - this uses RPG-like character, combat,
and experience mechanics. Each player selects three fantasy

Blood Red Sands 3.1 by Ralph Mazza

- A competitive GMless fantasy-genre RPG, where the players are heroes
trying to defeat one of the evil Witch Kings on a fantasy world (Abalahn)
where mankind slaughtered the gods. Play proceeds through a number of
Cycles, where one hero retires during each Cycle. In the final Cycle of
the Saga, one hero remains to face the Witch King - who is played by the
player with the most Victory Points. It uses a dice system where players
both collect dice and roll them. In each cycle, there is a temporary GM
called the Chronicler who can attempt to devastate traits, require oaths,
or other bad effects. Players can accept these and collect dice as
compensation; offer dice to avoid it; or gamble by rolling off.

Wushu-Open

- An action-movie / martial arts RPG, the free version of the
full Wushu RPG. This uses a simple dice pool system (roll d6's
equal to trait and take highest) along with the "Principle of
Narrative Truth". There are added wrinkles for combat, splitting
your dice into Yin and Yang (i.e. defense and offense).
Character creation is simple point-based, spreading 5-8 points
among roughly 3 player-defined traits, and choosing a weakness.

Wuthering Heights RPG by Philippe Tromeur
- Keywords: genre rules-lite
- A tongue-in-cheek RPG, based on Charlotte Bronte's "Wuthering
Heights". As such, it has Rage and Despair among its stats,
along with a large table of random problems. It uses a
minimalist system translated from French, now revised.
It is based on another French-language free RPG called "Rene" after
Francois Rene de Chateaubriand, leader of the French Romantics.

- A mythic/historical RPG set in the late Roman Empire. It uses a
rules-lite system intended for fast play and the relatively
primitive setting. Action resolution uses attribute + 2d6 vs
difficulty. Character creation has random-roll stats and binary
skills. There is a wealth of background information usable with
any system, and even a sample adventure.

- A mini-RPG conversion of the "Zombies!!!" boardgame from
Twilight Creations, about zombie attack horror. It uses
map tiles and zombie miniatures from the boardgame, but
none of the other rules or components. Character creation
is random-roll attributes-only (Health, Muscles, Brains, and Aim).
Action resolution is attribute + 1d10 + modifiers, and a 9 or
higher is a success.
